Mandatory automatic direct delivery of pathology reports of therapy failure may seem designed to cause maximum distress to severely ill patients or their families. Hospitals and doctors might consider how patients and families might like to be prepared in advance for arrival of ominous pathology reports. Perhaps medical professionals could create helpful guidelines.
