University workers have removed the high iron fence from the north lawn of Prospect House facing McCosh Hall, replacing it with a low post and chain. The fence was installed in 1904 when Prospect was the home of President Woodrow Wilson 1879 and his family. Prospect now is used for faculty dining and special events, and University Architect Ron McCoy *80 said that removing the high fence would “restore the grounds to the condition they were in when the house was gifted to Princeton” in 1878. Several new benches will be added, McCoy said: “We want to encourage the University community and visitors to feel welcome throughout the campus.”
