With the top spot still up for grabs in the last week of regular season play, Princeton men’s lacrosse is sure to be extending its season into the Ivy League tournament. After defeating Harvard 12-11 on Friday night, and with a little help from Brown, who beat Cornell on Saturday, the Tigers are guaranteed at least a share of the Ivy title for the first time since the 2012 season — and the 27th time in program history.
The Tigers will face Cornell in the final weekend of regular season play, needing a win to clinch the outright title and home-field advantage throughout the tournament. Yet, with Yale at Harvard and Brown at Dartmouth, the playoff picture is still very much anyone’s for the taking. A Princeton loss and a Brown win would give Brown home field advantage and make the two co-champions. In fact, with Brown, Yale, and Cornell all only a game behind the Tigers, a four-way tie for the championship is still possible.
Seniors Mike MacDonald and Kip Orban continued to make their marks in the Princeton record books against Harvard Friday night while leading their team to victory.
MacDonald found the back of the net twice while recording four assists, giving him 40 goals and 26 assists on the season. He is the first Princeton player to reach 40 goals and 20 assists in a single season, and his 66 points are the sixth-best single-season total in program history. (Jon Hess ’98 currently holds the record for most points in a single season with 74, a record that he set in 1997.) Only two other players in program history have recorded 40 or more goals in a season, and on Friday, MacDonald joined Tom Schreiber ’14 as the only two Tigers with at least 100 career goals and 70 career assists.
Meanwhile, Orban’s three goals on the night gave him 36 for the year and brought him to 92 career goals. With this he ties Josh Sims’ record for goals in a single season by a Tiger midfielder.

Women’s lacrosse clinched a share of the Ivy League championship this week with wins over Penn (9-7 on Wednesday night) and Columbia (12-6 on Saturday). The Tigers will try to complete an undefeated Ivy season at home against Brown April 25.
Men’s volleyball defeated Saint Francis 3-2 to earn an EIVA playoff bid. Senior Cody Kessel dominated with 30 kills to give himself one last shot at a league title.
Women’s tennis won the Ivy League title, defeating Cornell April 19 to finish the league season 6-1 and clinch an automatic NCAA bid.
Softball lost three of four games in a weekend series against Penn. The Tigers avoided the sweep with a 7-5 victory on Sunday afternoon.
