(Atria) In this novel, Weiner charts the lives of the Woodruff women — Sylvie, the mother, and Diana and Lizzie, the two daughters. Sylvie has become the perfect political wife, even though she has lost parts of herself during the transformation. Diana is an ER doctor with a seemingly perfect life, but, in reality, she has not much more than a loveless marriage. And then there’s Lizzie, the younger daughter, who is a recovering drug addict trying to keep her life under control. Things change when the most important man in their lives Robert Woodruff —husband, father, senator — admits he has had an affair, drawing the women into the glare of the national spotlight, and forcing them to reevaluate their lives.
