(Crown Business) Forbes argues that a crisis of confidence in capitalism (spurred on by the worst recession in decades) is preventing a full recognition of how we got into the mess we currently face and keeping us from realizing why capitalism continues to be the best route to prosperity. The author claims that when free people in free markets have the energy to solve problems and meet others’ needs and wants, they turn scarcity into abundance and make innovations that drive economic growth. Economic growth in a capitalist system, he states, should increase overall wealth and give more people opportunities for better lives. Forbes is chairman, CEO, and editor-in-chief at Forbes Media.
