(University of KwaZulu Natal Press) This volume examines a wide range of approaches to accountability and peacebuilding in African countries affected by conflict or political violence. These approaches include domestic courts and tribunals or the International Criminal Court, as well as truth commissions and informal or non-state justice and conflict resolution processes. The editors draw on the expertise of insider analysts who are authorities on transitional accountability processes and have participated in them as legal practitioners or commissioners. Chandra Lekha Sriram is a professor of human rights and director of the Centre on Human Rights in Conflict at the School of Law, University of East London, United Kingdom. Suren Pillay is a senior lecturer in the political studies department at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa.
