(Signature Sounds) The fourth CD by the band Crooked Still, a folk/bluegrass quintet, features Aoife O’Donovan on vocals, Gregory Liszt on banjo, Brittany Haas ’09 on fiddle, Tristan Clarridge on cello, and Corey DiMario on double-bass. The band “continues to redefine the parameters of bluegrass and progressive folk with their unique take on the old-time music they love,” wrote a critic for All Music Guide. “The tunes on Some Strange Country are mostly traditional, but the band infuses them with a subtle bluegrass virtuosity, chamber music attitude, and solos that often sound like they were borrowed from classical music.”
