Warm thanks to Elyse Graham ’07 for her portrait of Clara Mabel Rice and the 1933 Dictionary of Geological Terms (Princeton Portrait, Sept. 11). The passing of terms like “dead ground,” “lob of gold,” and “mountain milk” has left us that much more precise and that much poorer.
