It has been sheer magic to discover the Princeton online lectures. I knew it was possible to watch some lectures via YouTube – but the full-length, well-presented collection you have made available must be a precious gift to so many people all over the world.

Thanks to you, I have just discovered how nice it is to listen to thinking people, talking coherently, clearly, and in depth about engrossing topics. This has been an all-new experience, as most “education” still had something of the taste of compulsory medication, with a bad taste, like syrup of figs, for me.

I live in Brittany, in France. My son is a professor of culture, psychology, and English in a Japanese university (Yamaguchi), and through him, his studies, and the family (i.e. Yasuko, my daughter-in-law; and Ray, my Japanese 3-year-old, bilingual grandson), I see more clearly some of the difficulties that have to be faced with courage, of cross-culture families and intercultural mixes.

Perhaps you have heard of the Savoie case, and the current divide between U.S./Japanese law and its effects, on children and their families, when marriage breaks down?

If you have any lectures that address cross-cultural issues of this kind, I would be most grateful if you would let me know.

Many thanks for your work.
