Preceptorial Method
Dear Sir:
This may be heresy, but I do not consider it inconsistent with good teaching for an instructor to hand out the “cold dope” occasionally to his students, provided he does so in an interesting and provocative manner. This may be more helpful to some than a preceptorial which is dominated by one or two talkative students or one in which the preceptor talks all around a subject without stating and clarifying basic ideas.
