As a boy he caught a love for publishing while helping put out the paper founded by his father, Donald C. Jr. ’35, and an uncle, the late Dan D. Coyle ’38. In 1967 he went to work full time, writing local sports, taking classified ads, directing production, and eventually becoming editor and publisher in 1981 after his father died. After the family sold the paper in 2001, he volunteered at Princeton’s sports information office.

Jeb went to Princeton Day School and Exeter and spent one year at Princeton, where he played soccer. After a stint in the Army he graduated from Columbia University and studied journalism at the University of Missouri. His encyclopedic knowledge of Princeton athletics started at age 6 in Palmer Stadium’s press box, where his father was public-address announcer for decades.

The class extends sympathy to his wife of 42 years, Sheila; his son and daughter-in-law, Craig C. ’92 and Susan Kim-Stuart; daughter and son-in-law Lauren S. and Richard Downs; grandchildren Halleran and Regan Downs and Marlowe and Cormac Stuart; and a brother, Charles.
