Hank died Nov. 22, 2008, at the age of 81.  

He prepared for Princeton at St. Paul’s School in Garden City, N.Y. At Princeton he majored in English. Hank served in the Army as an MP from 1946 until 1948 with the rank of corporal. He also earned a master’s degree from the University of Chicago.

After graduation, Hank taught mathematics for five years at St. Paul’s and then spent five years as a teacher and assistant principal at the Laboratory School at the University of Chicago. For 30 years before retiring, he taught and chaired the math department at Evanston Township (Ill.) High School. He was also active in Recording for the Blind and enjoyed travel and golf.

Hank is survived by his wife, Rachel; a son, Henry; two daughters, Hillary Middle- miss and Laurie Robinson; and nine grandchildren. The class extends deepest sympathy to them on their loss of this dedicated educator.
