Alan R. Robson III died Oct. 2, 2006.
He prepared at the Haverford School. At Princeton, he majored in chemical engineering, was on the gym squad, and was treasurer of Campus Club.
Leaving Princeton at the end of his junior year, Al attended Drexel Institute of Technology Night School. From 1939 to 1942 he was a control chemist with Fels & Co. in Philadelphia, serving on its board of directors from 1952 until 1962.
As a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II, Al served four years in the American theater. Afterward he joined Sun Oil Co. as an engineer until 1960.
Al reported in our 25th yearbook, “I am enjoying a retired form of life, at least from active business.” At that time he and his wife, Isabell, whom he married in 1944, were devoting themselves to agriculture, with farms in West Chester, Pa., and Charlottesville, Va.
Al was a trustee of his local hospital and for 10 years was schools director of East Goshen Township, Pa.
Al was a Phillies baseball fan and a lover of golf and followed his wife to many horse shows she entered in the eastern United States.
Princeton records show Al as “single” at the time of his death.
