Charles Edo Kip died April 19, 2008. Charley entered Princeton from the Loomis School and earned his A.B. degree in chemistry. He was active in the German Club, The Tiger, and interclub sports. He was a member of Cannon Club.
Following graduation, he received a master’s degree from MIT. Charley then joined DuPont Co. in its explosives department.
He had a varied career in chemistry, held three patents, and wrote extensively as a literature chemist at Celanese and Chemstrand corporations.
In his retirement, Charley and his wife, Elva, became ministry assistants in pastoral care at his church. He also was active in community affairs and took great interest in world events. He enjoyed music (particularly the organ), gardening, travel, swimming, walking, and, above all, his family.
Charley and Elva Brain were married in 1945. She died in 1995. He is survived by three daughters, Susan, Nancy, and Betsy; a son, Thomas; and seven grandsons. To Charley’s family our class extends its sympathy and appreciation of a life fully lived in giving to others.
