Paul Sullivan died Feb. 4, 2009, in Vero Beach, Fla. He was 82.
He was a graduate of Scarsdale (N.Y.) High School and served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. At Princeton he played 150-pound football and dined at Cap and Gown. He graduated with honors in economics.
Paul’s career was in the investment business. He started out with Hayden Stone. The same firm 50 years and 17 mergers later is Citi Smith Barney. Paul retired after 50 years. He also served on the board of Home Savings Bank of White Plains, N.Y., a connection that “allowed us to travel the convention route and enjoy most of the top resorts of the world.” After 25 years and various mergers he retired (with pension) from the Bowery Savings Bank board.
Paul was active in the world of tennis. He was a USTA umpire at the U.S. Open and Wimbledon. He served a term as president of the American Platform Tennis Association.
He is survived by his second wife of 32 years, Joan; son Jeff ’78; and daughters Nancy ’80 and Jean. Paul was a loyal and enthusiastic Princetonian.
