Mike Dennis, who lived nearly all his life in Montreal, Canada, died there suddenly of heart disease Dec. 17, 2008. He was 72.

Mike came to us from Lower Canada College in Montreal. At Princeton he majored in English in the Special Program in the Humanities and wrote his thesis on the poetry of W.H. Auden and Stephen Spender. He was a member of Cap and Gown Club, 21 Club, and the Right Wing Club. His roommates included Bill Duncan, Earl Fogelberg, Mike Jones, Duncan Smith, Joel Weinstein, and fellow Montrealers David Angus ’59 and John MacFarlane ’59.

After Princeton, Mike earned a law degree in 1961 from McGill University, winning the Elizabeth Torrance Gold Medal among other honors. He practiced corporate law in Montreal with the firm now called McCarthy Tetrault, as a partner until 2005 and as counsel until his death.

Mike married Katie Gregory in 1962. Their married children, Sara ’87 and Gregory, both live in New York. Sara has a daughter and Greg has a son.

Mike summered in Northeast Harbor, Maine, since 1972 and has many friends there. Mike will be missed by all who knew him. To all of his family, the class extends sincerest condolences.
