Fred died Jan. 6, 2009. He was born in Geneva, N.Y. His father was an attorney, and Fred had no siblings. Our last address for Fred is Peachtree City, Ga.

Fred attended Choate, where he ran track and cross country and participated in soccer and wrestling. At Princeton he majored in politics and was electrical manager of Triangle Club.

After college, Fred worked for National City Bank of New York and the Geneva (N.Y.) Bank before joining the Army. In 1944 he embarked on a career with McKesson & Robbins, from which he retired in 1977.

Fred and his wife, Helen Bales, had a son, two daughters, and several grandchildren. Early on they lived in or near Miami and later in Atlanta.

Fred loved boating and water activities. He was featured in a Miami Herald story and photo about his winning the Dockwallopers of the Year award at Coral Beach Yacht Club.

We send our sympathy to Helen; their son, David; daughters Julia and Susan; and the grandchildren.

Fred was a loyal and respected classmate.
