Born in Philadelphia, Cliff came to Princeton from the Haverford School, majored in basic engineering, and was active in Colonial Club, the Flying Club, and Triangle. After Princeton, he served three years in the Navy and graduated from Harvard Business School.

Cliff worked at several financial-service companies before founding his own company, C.H.W. Maloney & Co., in 1981, to acquire established businesses for long-term investment. He served on the boards of Civitas and the New York Foundation for Senior Citizens, was active in Carnegie Hill Neighbors, and was 1960’s Annual Giving agent.

Finishing the New York Marathon 20 times, Cliff was the fastest American in his age group in 2008. He was a sailing member of the New York Yacht Club.

Cliff is survived by his wife, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Jane Bosher Maloney (D-N.Y.), whom he married in 1976; his daughters, Christina Paul Maloney ’02 and Virginia Marshall Maloney ’10; his mother, Virginia Wells Maloney; his sister, Virginia Maloney Lawrence; and eight nieces and nephews. The class extends condolences to them all.
