Rob graduated from The Hill School in Pottstown, Pa., in 1945. He served in the Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II and was in the Navy Reserve until 1954. At Princeton he majored in mechanical engineering, was a member of the Outing, Yacht and Elm clubs, and roomed with Joe Parsons ’50 and Geoffrey Twining ’47.  

Rob had a long and varied career with E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. beginning in 1951. Over the years he not only worked on engineering assignments, he also was a member of the employee-relations department, recruiting students. He retired in 1985 after 34 years with the company.

Rob was a National Rifle Association certified instructor and enjoyed pistol and rifle competitions. A member of the Oakland County Sportsmen’s Club, he also loved sailing, tennis, woodworking, and judo.

Rob died in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Dec. 2, 2008; his wife, Norma, predeceased him. He is survived by his children, Kathryn, William, Julie Foster-Lindquist, Samuel, and Cymbre; and six grandchildren, Anna   and Mikaela Lindquist, and Elizabeth, Savanna, Chloe, and Eliana Foster.
