Tom came to Princeton in 1943 from the Darrow School, joined the Army Specialized Training Program, and moved to Ohio University after his freshman year. After serving in the Army artillery in Belgium and Austria, he returned to Princeton, where he majored in French literature.
A member of the varsity rowing team in the finals of the 1948 Olympic trials, he also rowed in the 1949 Cup race at Henley, England.
Tom’s career was in banking in Pittsfield, as a national bank examiner for the Second Federal Reserve District. He retired in 1990 to a life of travel, sports, and community activities.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen Edith Carr, and two daughters, Patricia C. Plunkett and Pamela B. Carpenter. Tom’s father was Thomas F. Plunkett 1903. The class extends its condolences to the family.
