Barry died July 16, 2009, in Colorado Springs, Colo., after a courageous 15-year struggle with prostate cancer.

Born in Easton, Pa., Barry attended Mount Hermon (Mass.) School before entering Princeton, where he graduated with an A.B. in economics and was a member of Tiger Inn. After earning an M.B.A. in marketing from Columbia, he spent three years at a New York City advertising agency.

His career as a marketing executive took him from New York to Seattle and then to Colorado Springs, Colo., where he worked as vice president for marketing before becoming president and CEO of Current Inc., a company that designed, manufactured, and direct-marketed paper products.

Barry’s lifelong passion for golf fueled an intellectual curiosity about the mechanics of the golf swing. After years of research, Barry identified the techniques and positions common to only the great players. This work resulted in SWAIL (www.swail.com), an instructional DVD for serious golfers.

Barry’s deep love for his family, wry humor, generosity of spirit, and natural dignity marked his life and served him well in his battle with the disease that finally overtook him. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; his children, Tracy, Craig, and Kelsey; his mother, Marion Nolan Slater; and his sister, Sheila Fuller. To them all, the class extends its sympathy.
