Henry died May 31, 2003, in Princeton following a stroke.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, he prepared at St. George’s. At Princeton he graduated magna cum laude in English, played and managed varsity tennis, was a member of the Undergraduate Council, and ate at Tiger Inn. He roomed with Charlie Atwater.
During World War II, Henry served as a Navy officer in the Pacific. He settled in Princeton after the war and worked for Deltec Panamerica S.A. He retired from that firm in 1969 as vice president but had interim stops at Kuhn, Loeb & Co. and the American Overseas Finance Corp., where he was the Rockefeller Brothers’ representative to the World Bank.
Henry was on the board of the Guggenheim Foundation and his many other philanthropic activities included working with the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation. Henry was very proud of St. George’s, where he was a trustee. A devoted Princetonian, he attended nearly every reunion from graduation until his death.
Henry is survived by his wife, Elsa; two sons, Rod and Alex; and a daughter, Lisa, from his first marriage.
