Remy Whitehouse died April 4, 2010, in Gainesville, Fla.

Born in New York City, he was educated at St. Mark’s School. At Princeton, his major was in the Woodrow Wilson School. He participated in many sports and was a member of the Class of 1954 advisory council.

After graduation, Remy became an officer in the Navy and served on board the USS Macon and later as a lieutenant commander in the Navy Reserve. His life’s work was in the maritime industry, and he retired as executive vice president of the Gran Colombiana shipping line. Remy also served three terms on the board of trustees of the New York Steamship Association.

Remy was vibrant and intelligent. He was patriotic, an avid reader, a brilliant conversationalist, a stargazer, and a nature lover. He is survived by his children, Joan Marie and Cristina; his son-in-law, Roniel Cabrera; and a grandson, Colin. The class extends its sympathy to them.
