Monty Blundon died May 5, 2010, in Washington, D.C.,   from complications following heart surgery.

Monty prepared at Woodberry Forest. At Princeton he played on the freshman football team. Later he participated in wrestling and 150-pound football at the varsity level. He majored in chemical engineering and joined Tiger Inn.

As American involvement in World War II loomed, Monty, along with other Princeton engineers, received commissions in the Navy. He served as gunnery officer on the destroyer USS Henry A. Wiley. This ship participated in the landings on Iwo Jima and Okinawa and narrowly escaped destruction by kamikaze aircraft.

After his discharge from the Navy, Monty and his wife, Lucy, moved around while he learned the water-treatment business. In 1971 he started his own company, Potomac Water & Waste Systems Inc., and continued to manage this engineering and design company until his retirement in 1997.

Monty was devoted to his friends. For 35 years he and a group of companions lunched together weekly in Mclean, Va. He served regularly as an usher in St. John’s Church, Lafayette Square, Washington, D.C.

Lucy died in 2008. Monty is survived by his children, Lucy Biddle, Montague Blundon III ’71, and Carroll Blundon, and six grandchildren, to whom the class sends sympathy.
