Fordyce Barker St. John died March 31, 2010, at Meadow Ridge in Redding, Conn.

Known as John St. John, he entered Princeton from Deerfield Academy and joined Ivy Club. He played varsity football and hockey and majored in geology. He received his degree in 1947, following service with the 84th Infantry Division during World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge.  

John began his career in the oil industry, worked for Carter Oil (a division of Exxon) for 15 years, and then worked at Chemical Bank. He retired from the Bank of New
York as chairman of the natural resource department.  

John was an avid golfer and served as president of the Country Club of New Canaan (Conn.) as well as a member of the New Canaan Zoning Board of Appeals and the board of the New Canaan Inn.  

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Lisa Polhemus; their children, Elizabeth Abelt, John and Susan; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The class expresses its sympathy to the family.
