Jack died May 7, 2010, in Sun City Center, Fla., where he had lived since his retirement in 1985. He had been in the oil business in Yardley, Pa., for 25 years and in contracting in Buck Hill Falls, Pa., for 21 years.

At Princeton he was a history major and a member of Cap and Gown. He left college in December of his junior year and married Doris Updike in 1938. They had two sons, John W. III and Thomas.

Doris died in 1982, and Jack married Julia Stevenson in 1985. Julia died in 1992, and he married Mary Louise Anderson in 1999.

Jack told us that golf was his main leisure interest and he played a lot in Florida. He declared he had a 14 handicap.

He is survived by Mary Louise, his two sons, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. To them all, we extend our sincere sympathy.
