Hub died July 25, 2010, at the Somerville (N.J.) Medical Center.

He grew up and raised his family in Plainfield, N.J., later residing in Basking Ridge and St. Luke’s Village in Peapack before moving to Bridgewater three years ago.

One relative, Robert Darby ’27, preceded him to Princeton. Hub majored in modern languages and graduated with honors. He earned a law degree from Rutgers University.

Hub earned a Bronze Star in the Philippine campaign during World War II, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Army’s judge advocate general’s office.

He had his own law firm in Plainfield from 1965 to 1995 and served as Union County prosecutor and president of the New Jersey Bar Association. He was a member of the Elks Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Lions Club.

Predeceased by his wife, Virginia Moore Stine, he is survived by their seven children, Douglas Jr., John, Thomas, Janet Powell, Joseph, Angela George, and Michael; a brother, Jack; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Hub’s classmates extend their sincere sympathies to all of the family.
