Pat Belser, widow of Dana, relates that he loved his years at Princeton, which were very special. He died Oct. 8, 2010.
A native of Atlanta, Dana was a graduate of Woodberry Forest School in Virginia and was an aviation cadet in the Navy from 1944-1945. At Princeton he was in Key and Seal and graduated with honors in economics.
After a stint with the Coca-Cola Co., Dana joined forces with George Ferris ’48 and Rudy Clemen ’48 at Ferris & Co. in the investment business. In 1978 he left the investment world and purchased G.G. Tauber Co., a mail-order distributor of promotional products. He was active with this company for the rest of his life, gradually delegating management to staff. He then had time “to smell the roses.”
He was an avid golfer and outdoors
devotee. He belonged to the Flying Angels, a group that sent needy children and their families to hospitals along the East Coast.
Dana is survived by his widow, Patricia; four children; and two stepchildren. He always insisted that Princeton’s honor system is its greatest legacy and “has played a major role in all aspects of my life.”
