Bob died Sept. 25, 2010, at his home in Mount Lebanon, Pa.  

He prepared at Shady Side Academy and at Princeton was in SPIA and graduated with honors. He was active in Whig-Clio all four years and roomed with Henry Posner all through college. An ROTC graduate, he entered the Army in February 1942, first serving in the field artillery before transferring to the Air Corps. After 15 months in China, he went on inactive duty as captain in February 1946.

A statistician by profession, Bob was called back to active duty with the infantry during the Korean conflict, and at the time of our 10th reunion he was serving at Fort Meade, Md. After his service, Bob worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Carnegie-Illinois Steel before becoming manager of purchasing research at U.S. Steel.

Bob was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Lois Stockton Benson. He is survived by his two daughters, Maryann Grodecki and Laura Benson; and his two sons, Robert and Bruce.
