After graduating, I signed up for the Princeton career-networking lists on TigerNet. One day I received an e-mail from an alumna, saying that she had a nephew who was in the U.S. Marines, seriously pursuing music as a rapper/ poet/lyricist, and seeking to network. I took a chance, listened to his previous work, and saw a lot of potential.

We quickly got in touch through her, and proceeded to record a whole album (I was living in D.C. last year, and he was stationed at the Quantico base in Virginia). It was officially released April 1 (http://dmeitz.bandcamp.com/).

It occurred to me only recently how valuable the Princeton network is (in addition to the music department, the Lewis Center for the Arts, and the guidance and support I’ve gotten from great people such as Professor Paul Muldoon). Without that initial connection, this music would not exist today, and I would not have made friends with this great person.
