Dar died March 26, 2011. One of our most loyal classmates, he also was praised for his pleasant personality.

Spending his youth in a series of cities — St. Louis; Lima, Ohio; Cologne and Hamburg, Germany; and Mountain Lakes, N.J., Dar attended Westfield (N.J.) High School. At Princeton, he majored in economics, rowed on the freshman crew, and was a member of the band, Parking Squad, and Key and Seal Club.

Dar earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1943. From 1943 to 1946, he served as a first lieutenant in the Army Quartermaster Corps.

For our 50th reunion he wrote, “My work was essentially internal and external consulting in administration, finance, and computers, including travel in Europe, South America, and most parts of the United States. [I] retired as a vice president of Johnson & Higgins.”

Dar served on the boards of the Boy Scout Council, United Way, and a local historical museum, was a past president of his regional Princeton Alumni Association, and was a member of his class council.

Dar married Elizabeth McAuley Oct. 25, 1958. She survives him, as do his son, Peter; daughters Anne Jensen and Jennifer Ley; and eight grandchildren. To them, his classmates offer deep sympathies.
