As a member of the Class of 2007, I have been fortunate enough to haveexperienced firsthand how close-knit is the network of family and friends that defines Princeton alumni.

The most recent example of these acts of kindness occurred recently as I was looking for a place to stay in Tampa, Fla., during my temporary visit for a medical-school rotation. After searching on Facebook for the Princeton Club of Tampa Bay, I was able to contact the club president, John Few ’84. John and his wife, Irene, graciously invited me to stay in their guest room for the entire month.

During my stay with John, I had the honor of speaking to incoming students joining the Class of 2015 from the Tampa Bay area at their send-off reception. Using John and his family as an example, I informed the new Tigers that the Princeton experience is much more than just an unparalleled academic education. It is the beginning of a journey with a network of friends who will change their lives for the better.

No words can express my gratitude for not only the best challenge of my life, a Princeton education, but also for the best that life has to offer: the comfort to know that no matter where I travel, I only have to knock, and there always seems to be a fellow Princetonian who will open the door and lend a helping hand.
