Ensign Bret Hinrichs ’17 and Second Lt. Hannelora Everett ’17 celebrate after being commissioned June 6 at the University’s joint ROTC commissioning ceremony. Hinrichs, the first ensign commissioned by Princeton’s NROTC program in 45 years, will serve on the destroyer USS Bainbridge as a surface warfare officer. Everett will serve as an Army military intelligence officer in the 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade at Fort Lewis, Wash. Maj. Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli ’87 spoke at the ceremony in Nassau Hall. Earlier in the day, Frank Africano ’17 and John Hugin ’17 were commissioned as Marine Corps second lieutenants; the two completed the Marine Officer Candidate Course in the summer before their senior year.
