TOM DIED on Aug. 11, 1989, of injuries he suffered when bicycling near his home in Greenwich, Conn. Tom entered Princeton with the Class of '71 after graduating from the Lawrenceville School. He worked for a year as a sports reporter for the San Francisco Examiner, majored in English, and was a member of the Wine and Blues Band and Cap and Gown Club,

In the past four years, Tom worked at Bond Investors Guaranty as a V.P. in the Risk Underwriting Dept. He was responsible for negotiating deals, credit analysis, and marketing, and he chaired several committees. Before this work, he spent six years as a rating specialist in the Municipal Finance Dept. at Standard & Poors. He had managerial responsibility for the marketing and analytical staff in the Midwest, spoke at a number of S.&P. conferences, and applied his writing and editing skills to S.&P.'s "CreditWeek" publication, which he supervised.

Style, wit, intensity, and individuality were Tom's. He was also active in sports. After graduation, he played professional baseball in the farm leagues for three years. Later, he coached youth baseball and softball teams and coached and played on a men's basketball team that won the N.Y.C. Basketball League Championship (Division Two). He also ran in the N.Y.C. Marathon, collected rare books, and wrote, directed, and produced TV shows.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Tom's widow, Brooke Farley, to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Farley' 40, and to his brother and sisters.
