Peter died Jan. 8, 2017, at Wake County Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C. He was 65.

A loving partner, father, brother, and doctor, Peter spent his formative years in Tennessee and Michigan.

With an inquisitive mind, he attended The Hill School, then Princeton University. He then chose to study biochemistry, earning a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. Peter moved on to medicine, earning his degree at the University of Michigan. During medical school, he completed postdoctoral work at the Institut Pasteur in Paris. Peter was double-boarded in internal medicine and neurology.

Enamored with North Carolina’s trees and blue skies, he settled in Burlington, N.C., and spent 20 years practicing neurology at the Kernodle Clinic. Peter was a voracious reader of both English and French literature. He was a rock of support for his children and provided a wonderful role model for how to live a giving and meaningful life. His family, friends, colleagues, and patients will sorely miss him.

Peter is survived by his loving soulmate, Rhonda Mazejka; his children, Rebecca, Maxim, Hervé, and Rémy; sister Karen; brothers Richard and Henry; and by Rhonda’s family, Nick, Callie Jo, Jesse, Mason, and Rachel.
