Steve, a beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather, died peacefully, surrounded by family April 3, 2017. He was 65 years old.

Born and raised in Long Island, N.Y., he and his twin brother, Grant, attended the Taft School in Watertown, Conn. He majored in history at Princeton, where he was a member of Cottage Club. He earned his law degree from Hofstra Law School in 1976 and practiced law in Manhattan before relocating to Albany, N.Y., in 1982.

Steve was a key leader of the Galesi Group for nearly 30 years, serving as general counsel and senior vice president. A resident of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., he was an avid patron of arts and culture in the region. For Steve, singing was not just a hobby; it was a passion. At Princeton, he sang a cappella with the Tigertones, performing with Bette Midler in Bermuda and recently celebrating the group’s 70th anniversary with his son, who joined the Tigertones three decades after him.

He is survived by his wife, Elena Brannstrom; his twin brother, Grant; his children Whitney Porter Malone and her husband, Paul, and Steve Porter and his wife, Amy; his stepchildren, Sam and Nike Brannstrom; and his four granddaughters whom he deeply adored, Liv Malone, Vivienne Malone, Eloise Porter, and Olive Porter.
