Stan died Aug. 25, 2018, in North Miami Beach, Fla.

He was born in Pittsburgh and came to Princeton from Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pa. At Princeton he joined Campus Club and majored in sociology. His thesis topic was “A Study of Personal Prestige: Ratings of Doctors and Lawyers in a Small New Jersey Community.” He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School and did a three-year internal-medicine residency at Pittsburgh Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital. Following that training, he entered the United States Public Health Service and was a heart-disease-control specialist for the state of Connecticut. In 1973, Stan relocated to South Florida and became the resident physician for the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Fla.

In 2008, he published a book, Hotel Doctor, to record his experience in that capacity and his encounters with “the rich, the famous, and the infamous.” A second book, Angel in the Tree, published in 2016, recorded his love for his wife and his discovery of faith.

His wife of 48 years, Maxine, died in 2012. Stan is survived by his three children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
