A longtime resident of Pittsburgh, Pa., Bill prepped at Shady Side Academy, where he played football, ran track, and was a member of the glee club. At Princeton he majored in economics and played on the 150-pound football team and the lacrosse team. He belonged to Cannon Club.

Bill left Princeton in 1942 to enter the Marines, where he was an aerologist. After four years, he was discharged as a technical sergeant and went to work in the family business, William M. Orr Co., which operated a metals service center and sold welding and refrigeration supplies.

Bill sold the business in 1986, but continued to consult for another five years. He retired at 71, splitting his time between his homes in Pittsburgh and Fort Pierce. He drove his own car each way until he was 95. His hobbies were golf and bridge. Bill also served as the Class of 1943’s annual giving chairman and was on the schools committee, and was active in his church.

Bill is survived by his wife of 15 years, Audrey McKee; his sons from his first marriage, William “Duke” and his wife, Janet; Raymond “Ridge” and his wife, Connie; Gregg and his wife, Rebecca; and John; stepdaughter Renee and her husband, Scott Logan; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
