Steve died July 20, 2018, in Topsham, Maine, after a second fight with cancer since moving to Maine in 2002.

Steve came to Princeton from Falls Church High School, where he was active in journalism and drama productions. At Princeton, Steve majored in French and particularly enjoyed being a disc jockey for WPRB. He was a member of Terrace and later served on its board.

After graduation and a short stint in the Army, Steve married Claudette Gouzoulis and they had three sons. He started work at First Pennsylvania Bank in Philadelphia, soon becoming branch manager and earning an MBA from Temple. As senior vice president he led the creation of 3-2 Centers, a subsidiary focused on banking needs in economically stressed neighborhoods.

A bank merger set Steve on a new course, founding Chesleigh Communications (reviving an original family name) and working with the Vanguard Group. In 1981 he married Sherry Newton, with whom he would enjoy several global choir tours over the years. His favorite quote was, “Read the comics first.” In 2002, they retired and moved to Phippsburg, Maine, and continued choral singing and volunteering.

Steve is survived by Sherry; sons Douglas, Robert, and Gregory; four grandchildren; and sister Pam. The class offers its condolences to them all.
