David died May 30, 2016, at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. His death was linked to disabilities resulting from grave injuries sustained in Vietnam in 1968 during his service in the Marine Corps.  

Following his military service, David entered Princeton, where he majored in sociology. His thesis, “Thwarted Expectations: Learned Helplessness in the Chronic Pain Syndrome,” helped him graduatesumma cum laude.  

In 1985 David earned a doctor of psychology degree from Rutgers. He built a career from his passion, evaluating and advocating for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.  

David is survived by his wife, Evelyne; son Russell; and daughter Grace ’20. David is buried at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
