Valerie’s main passion was folk music and festivals, as well as contra and folk dancing. Famous in New England for her baking skills, she always arrived with one of her signature creations including blueberries in brownies.
As she slowly and surely lost her physical strength, she had a spirit and determination that made the life of everyone around her a little better.
Valerie was an avid reader and an active member of the Rhode Island Chapter of the Princeton Book Club, the East Smithfield Library Book Club, and the book club at Smithfield Woods Senior Living, where she resided. She also played baritone ukulele with the Rhode Island Strummers.
Valerie never stopped having fun. She was loved and admired by many. Love, as the songs and poets say, hurts. She is survived by a sister and a brother.
