At Princeton Dave belonged to Elm Club and roomed with Bob Caro and Frank Dawson among others. He majored in modern languages, immersing himself so deeply in Spanish that, roommates said, he spoke Spanish in his sleep. He was a banjo enthusiast with a Dixieland quartet as well as the Dave Robb Trio, playing on Prospect Avenue and at as many women’s colleges as the groups could book.
Besides the banjo and his family, Dave’s passions included skeet shooting and crossword puzzles.
After nearly 50 years of marriage, Adelaide died and Dave moved near family and into a retirement home in Frederick, Md. He died there Dec. 1, 2020, suffering from COVID-19. He is survived by two daughters and two grandchildren.
