Jamer grew up in Elizabeth, N.J., and attended the Pingry School. He spent his childhood summers in Sea Girt, N.J., and met his wife, Kathleen Dougherty, there. 

At Princeton he majored in basic engineering, played junior varsity soccer, and was a member of Tiger Inn. Jamer earned a medical degree from Ohio State University. His residency was in otolaryngology at St. Louis University, followed by a fellowship in head and neck surgery from the University of Michigan.

A longtime resident of Pennington, N.J., where he was a parishioner at St. James Catholic Church, Jamer established and operated a distinguished solo practice in otolaryngology in nearby Lawrenceville for more than 30 years. His compassion and generosity endeared him to all patients and colleagues.

Jamer loved the New York Giants and Ohio State football, and enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and paddleball. 

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son Jay; daughter Hope; and  brothers William ’77 and John ’79, both ophthalmologists. He was predeceased by his father, Charles ’40.
