Bert died July 31, 2021, in Lecanto, Fla., four days after his 79th birthday, of complications of Parkinson’s disease.

He graduated from Oakwood High School in Dayton, Ohio, where he was junior class president, president of the National Honor Society, and played varsity basketball. At Princeton Bert was a cum laude graduate in biology. He was a member of Tower and lived in the 7th entry of Holder (the “HHH & PC”) with seven roommates. He was affectionately known in Tower as “the Bwob” and was celebrated as having the worst French accent ever heard in Princeton. He participated in intramurals, the Outing Club, and the Campus Fund Drive.

He earned a medical degree at Case Western Reserve and served in the Air Force for two years in Japan. Bert returned to Cleveland for three years of dermatology residency, then opened his solo dermatology practice in a Cleveland suburb. He was a horseman who loved trail rides in the Cleveland trail system; owned horses, dogs, and cats; and especially enjoyed cruising. One cruise crossed the International Date Line, allowing two New Year’s celebrations.

Bert moved to horse country near Ocala, Fla., to escape winters and worked part time in two dermatology practices. Two marriages ended in divorce. He is survived by his sons, Rob and Mike; four grandchildren; and his older sister, Joanne. The class extends condolences to them.
