Barry Roecker died peacefully Aug. 6, 2011, at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his family at his side.

Born in Easton, Pa., Barry came to Princeton from William Tennent High School in Warminster, where he set records in wrestling and track and field that lasted for many years. He participated in these sports, and added rugby, at Princeton.

His good friend Rick Saunders ’73 wrote: “There was never anyone who had more fun or loved Princeton and the friends he made there more than Barry. I can never think of him without a smile on my face.”

After graduation, Barry traveled in Europe for a year and then began a long and successful career in the pharmaceutical industry, retiring as a scientific-affairs liaison at Bayer Laboratories. Living in Norwalk, Conn., he was active in sailing, flying, and skiing, continued to play rugby, and was a regular (still sporting his fifth-reunion khaki workshirt) at P-rades.

Barry is survived by his father, Jack, and his sister, Lois Daggett, and niece Michelle Rummel and their husbands. To Barry’s family and to his many friends, the class sends its sincere condolences.
