Impressive, but too fast. A 3-5 second time lapse would have provided time to identify the date and subject of the cover. That would imply a tight editing job.

I am of two minds on the title of our alumni magazine. I would hate to lose the nice acronym PAW, as in the Tiger's paw. At the same time, it hasn't been weekly for many years. Tigernet, and class websites, have given us the functionality of immediate notification. Before we had them, I missed the funeral of a classmate's wife (I'd introduced them), as it came in Class Notes a month too late. PAW was truly weekly in my day, printed on Friday and received on Monday. Class Notes were current. I realize that the new magazine, which is oriented to deeper articles, has to have a longer lead time. I enjoy it, and have no objections now that we have alternate immediate communications. Now to my two minds - stay as PAW, or become another name. I vote to stay as PAW (not requiring the logo on the cover) - but I think there should be a "disclaimer" on the editorial page giving the history. It has been around for over a hundred years, but the new alumni have no idea that it was once actually weekly - and the primary way to pass on current class information (which, sadly, was often deaths and the time and location of funerals). -- Best, Jon

As a class secretary for 30+ years, it is amazing how many PAW covers I remember. The PAW is one of the great assets of Princeton, as it serves as glue to hold the graduates together for oh so many years. -- Ralph

To one of Jon's points, PAW Online posts a list of recent alumni deaths received by the University with each new issue (you can find the link under Web Exclusives on the home page). And in response to Bud's question, the plastic wrapper around the Sept. 18 issue was used as a way to include the PIIRS supplement with the PAW mailing. Most PAW issues will not have a plastic wrap.

Bravo on the decision to return to a more traditional-looking cover. Perhaps now some covers will be framed and again used to decorate dorm rooms, as they were back in the day.

I am glad PRINCETON has returned. It is with a great deal of pride I can look at the name of my alma mater (and others may see her name as well). Tiger PAW was good, but Old Nassau's real name is better. Thanks.
