FIELD HOCKEY reached the NCAA Final Four with a 7–4 victory over Syracuse in the national quarterfinals at Class of 1952 Stadium Nov. 15. (Final Four results were not available for this issue of PAW.) The fourth-seeded Tigers, who were a perfect 7–0 in the Ivy League, continued their dominance in the first two rounds of postseason play. Princeton opened with a 4–0 shutout of Stanford Nov. 14. The next day, Syracuse led 3-2 at halftime, but the Tigers rallied with three consecutive goals by Kathleen Sharkey ’12 (above, right, with Kaitlin Donovan ’10).

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY earned a trip to nationals for the seventh consecutive year by finishing second behind Villanova in the highly competitive Mid-Atlantic Regional in Princess Anne, Md., Nov. 14. Liz Costello ’10 led the Tigers, placing seventh in the region.   The three runners above — from left, Alex Banfich ’12, Reilly Kiernan ’10, and Sarah Cummings ’11 — were among Princeton’s top five finishers at both the regional and the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, where Princeton swept the first five spots to win the team title.
