Mr. Schellenberger was, without question, my favorite and most respected teacher at Mercersburg (class of 1961). He was also dorm master of Main Hall, and could have compromised my graduation when he interrupted an after lights out confab in a dorm room the night before graduation (perhaps it helped that it was the student council president’s room). Perhaps my most instructive memory is when he advised me, “Mr. Van Sciver, a pun is the lowest form of humor.” Lesson learned.
