Geoffrey A. Kandall ’58

Body

Jeff died Oct. 19, 2010, after a short illness.

He came to us from Far Rockaway (N.Y.) High School, where he was valedictorian of his class. At Princeton, he was a math major, a member of Prospect Club, and a summa cum laude graduate. In his senior year he roomed with Vic Korenman.

After receiving a master’s degree in mathematics at MIT, Jeff taught at Boston University, Emmanuel College, Southern Connecticut State University, the University of New Haven, and Milford Academy. Self-taught, he translated Russian math texts into English, and also submitted puzzles and solutions to many math journals.

To Jeff’s children, Michael ’86 and Rena; grandchildren Joshua and Rachel, and his brother, Stephen, the class extends its sincerest condolences.
