George Logan Christian Wright ’56

GEORGE DIED Apr. 1, 1991, in Charleston, S.C., after a courageous struggle of five years with cancer. He was born Sept. 11, 1934, in Mukden, Manchuria, and grew up on Long Island in Cold Spring Harbor.

George came to Princeton from Phillips Exeter Academy. At Princeton he was a member of Charter Club, before leaving the University during his junior year. After serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, George spent most of his working life teaching in private secondary schools in N.Y.C., Massachusetts, Spain, and St. Thomas. In 1978 he retired to his historic family home in Charleston.

In his last years, although cancer operations deprived him of the ability to talk, George kept his sense of humor and managed to communicate freely with a pen and pad of paper. He never complained and was cheerful to the end,
